On Monday, May 15, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Vice Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex Tatem and other local leaders will hold a press conference at 711 Millby Street, one of the most frequently blocked rail crossings in Texas, to highlight the need to address blocked rail crossings in communities and pass federal rail safety legislation. Throughout the U.S., rail crossings like the one at Millby Street make it impossible for workers to get to work and children to get to school, and delay first responders in reaching those facing life-threatening emergencies.
