United for Infrastructure

Infrastructure Week 2024

Recapping the 12th Annual Infrastructure Week

For more than a decade, United For Infrastructure (UFI) has proudly presented Infrastructure Week as an annual, nationwide event focused on raising awareness about the importance of infrastructure and advocating for improvements that address some of our nation’s toughest challenges in transit and transportation, water systems, energy and more.

Together with our Steering Committee, Partnership Network, and organizations around the country, Infrastructure Week 2024 featured more than 60 events that showcased our nation’s roads, rails, bridges, ports, energy grid, water systems, broadband. As we convened, we encouraged and enhanced dialogue among policymakers, industry leaders, and the public to help shine a light on the importance of prioritizing transformative infrastructure projects in our communities.

As public infrastructure projects supported and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law begin to break ground and transform communities from coast to coast, UFI and our partners will continue to spread awareness on the law’s impacts and the potential for transformative investment.

Infrastructure Week Kick-Off Reception

We kicked-off Infrastructure Week on Monday, May 13 with a very special rooftop reception held at the beautiful Penthouse at The Wharf in Washington, DC! This invite-only event, hosted by United for Infrastructure in partnership with the Business Roundtable, our esteemed Steering Committee, and our event sponsor Florida International University, brought together UFI’s network of cross-sector infrastructure practitioners, stakeholders, and partners.

United for Infrastructure:
Invest. Permit. Build.

On Tuesday, May 14, we held the marquee event of Infrastructure Week: United for Infrastructure: Invest. Permit. Build., hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the UFI Steering Committee.

We heard from the Honorable Julie Su, Acting Secretary, U.S. Department of Labor, and a dynamic group of speakers, including business, state, and local leaders, members of Congress, and other senior level policymakers, exploring the challenges and opportunities facing our nation's energy, water, and transportation infrastructure and the potential impacts to our nation’s workforce.

West Coast Anchor Event

We closed out Infrastructure Week in Los Angeles at our West Coast Anchor Event, featuring fireside chats with infrastructure leaders like Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Los Angeles’ very own Mayor Karen Bass as well as many other leaders from the government and business sectors.

Held within the historic setting of the Los Angeles Union Station Ticketing Concourse and hosted in partnership with LA Metro and UFI’s Steering Committee and Partnership Network, this gathering focused on three infrastructure sectors that are critical to the Western U.S.: transportation, water, and energy.

We also engaged in discussions about the infrastructure opportunities and challenges presented by the upcoming 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympic Games.
